The Weight Loss Journey
It all started in 2015 when a dear friend dropped 80lbs in what seemed like overnight... My curiosity led me to ask the big question. "WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO"? She was very honest and said she had a procedure call Gastric Sleeve also know as Sleeve Gastrectomy. I asked her for the info and the name of the Dr. and got right on it.

Stbg Run
April 11
Talk about commitment, I'm getting back on track for sure. I had to go out with Wendy this morning so I didn't get a chance to do my usual early run, so I decided to wear my running gear just in case I had a free moment to get my run in. I ended up at Tapestry Corner and decided no better time than the present, so I got on the road and did my first run. I ran the 3 miles run I did with LoriAnn and Rick back in February, and to my surprise I did it in less time, yeah...I guess my speed has improved somewhat...

I'm back on track
April 10th
I got out early this morning before the sun went away and the rain began. I did a warm up run since it's been over a week since I ran. I did 2 miles and felt great, I didn't want to push it since I am planning to run 10 miles on Sunday, wish me luck. Dee and I, my partner for the marathon are running together for the first time on Sunday in her neighborhood in Cherry Valley, we also registered for our run today. Our team name is DEEJENARATES...I thought it was pretty funny. No turning back now the money has been paid and it official.

Why do I hate the Treadmill?
If this weather does not start to change soon I am gonna lose my freakin' mind...I have an elliptical and treadmill in my home gym, yet time and again I let the weight pile on. I must be a real gluten for punishment.
Hey Bridget, remember how disciplined we were a few years ago when you both buckled down and lost 55/45lbs, making our breakfast, lunches and dinners together. We walked 30 plus miles per week, we had a trainer twice a week and we occasionally rode our bikes, all in the same day sometimes. And we really didn't eat much carbs either. I would say we were totally obsessed back then. Somehow we never got that momentum again. Oh yeah...this was when I worked RE and had my own schedule, and before you became a full-time shop owner. Somehow this part-time work schedule is messing with my total commitment to working out (any excuse right?).
Anyhow, I have to start embracing the damn treadmill, cuz it's supposed to be Spring and between the rainy weather and the cold I can't seem to get out and run.
I have to get on the stick my birthday is fast approaching and the pounds are being stubborn. I know I need to get off this soap box and just keep working at it but I am very impatient, what can I say...

Nicole, I apologize for not commenting on the wonderful juices and smoothies. Well, I must say after my workouts on Tues & Thurs, it has become a ritual of mine to stop by and get some fresh fruit and veggie juice samples, they certainly rejuvenate me, they are delicious and Nicole is an absolute delight. However, today I stopped by for my sample and there was no juice, WTF. When is the official opening?
Ok it should be obvious to everyone that I have been in a funk lately, I am trying really hard to get out of it. Part of the problem is that I hurt my knee and haven't been able to run for a week, I haven't increased my time and I have yet to complete my 9 mile run. By this weekend I should be up to 10 miles. I'm not feeling as confident as I once did...does anyone have any suggestions.
Now after my wonderful core workout with Greg & Leslie, the topic of a triathlon came up... well guess what I want to do it, but I don't swim, so Leslie said she would swim, I will run and I wanted Bridget to ride...she turned me down flat. Jorge are you up for an 18 mile bike ride? Ok let's not lose focus!!! I have to make it thru this marathon first. God help me, I need to be a twig by next week in order to get all this done. Still no f...ing weight loss, I think I am just going to resort to not eating, so what if I pass out, at least I will be thin(it's all about being thin at this point). I'm thinking if the no eating does not work I am gonna take a trip to Brazil and you can guess why...I figure I still have enough time to recover before the marathon.

No more carbs!!!
April 3
I thought someone was playing an April fools joke on me when I woke up at a whopping 220 lbs on Wed. If you been reading this blog you know I have been struggling with the weight thing since I gained 15lbs over the Christmas holidays. Now I am up 20lbs even though I've been running for over a month. Well here is what I am thinking, everyone says when you are running you need to eat more carbs...so I've been eating fibers bars, yogurt, bananas and oranges. Sounds pretty healthy, right? Well my body seems to have a really adverse reaction to carbs/sugars of any kind. Everytime I've have ever successfully lost weight I had to cut carbs completely. Leslie and I had a serious carb conversation and for the next six weeks my diet will consist of spinach and chicken breast, sounds pretty drastic but it's the only way to get these pounds off.
Salads, green veggies, fish and lean beef are also acceptable. I will keep you posted. I have to lose at least 30lbs by May 17th, as I've said before surgery would be easier. LOL since that is not an option I have to do it the hard way.

March 29
I was set to run with my partner Dee on Saturday, but our timing was off and we didn't get together. I went out for run on Sunday just before the weather turned. I got in an easy 2 mile run before the hail storm.
The rest of my week took a turn for the worst and I never got much running done. I started to have some knee issues this week, so I decided to take some time off. I miss it tho and can't wait to start back this weekend. I need to run 9 miles this weekend, not sure if my knees are up to it, but I'm gonna try.
Six weeks to the big day and time is still slower than I would like. This brings me to my conversation with Ron Frazier who had some words of encouragement for me "Is your life insurance policy up to date, and if so what about long term care?" "at your current speed you will finish the race on Tues". Well no wonder I feel like giving up! LOL. Well Mr. Frazier it's on now, make sure you are at the finish line on Sun as I take my bow. Ofcourse he was just teasing me, he actually gave me some good advice. Thanks Louise for cheering me on.
